Welcome to the news page!
Often people will call or email me asking what puppy news is happening or how training is going, what breedings are planned or happening, and so on. I'll try and update this page often so people can follow along to the happenings here at my kennel!

I wish everyone a happy and prosperous year with your dogs!
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Holidays from Sportwaffen K9!!!!
Yesterday my schutzhund club successfully held our affiliation trial and will now be a full member club with Schutzhund USA!! You may visit our website by clicking here.
Sportwaffen K9 would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Be careful in your travels and enjoy the company of your loved ones and a bountiful meal!
We are making the final preparations for our upcoming affiliation trial with USA Judge Mike Hamilton on December 18th. We are currently installing flagpoles and banners around the field for a very trial look to our training field. When it's done it will look amazing.
On Saturday, November 20, 2010, Jenny delivered 2 male and 4 female German Shepherd Dog puppies from my male, Stuka. This is a repeat breeding that has been successful over and over again. I have buyers on standby for this breeding and will have to see who can be placed on the litter. Mother and babies are doing very well in the Sportwaffen K9 puppy whelping room.
Short longbite from Stuka x Cheyenne daughter Farah von den Sportwaffen. Enjoy!
Sorry for the late updates to the website. Much has happened.
My newly formed O.G. Landshark Schutzhund, Polizeihund, und Rettungshunde club has been doing fantastic. We got our shelter put up, as well as a clubhouse. We have couches, tables, chairs, etc., in the clubhouse and electricity as well all wired up. We can light the sitting area outside if we like, as well as run heaters/lamps/coffee pots, etc., inside. Spotlights over the grill area. We're wiring up lights for the field now that can be set up and taken down as needed. Our flagpoles will go up in the next week or so. Our facility is looking fantastic for only being 4 months into our clubs development. It really helps to have experienced people when starting a club.
My Czech female Facka and my German female Jenny have both been bred to the always powerful Stuka. When my other German female Cheyenne comes into her cycle she will be repeat bred to Stuka as well in the next months. Two of these are repeat breedings that have produced strong dogs! I will be getting information posted on these breedings up soon.
Affiliation Trial for O.G. Landshark is scheduled for December 18, 2010.
The other night at training for Halloween we wanted to have some fun. So, I dressed up as Michael Myers from the movie Halloween. I'm kind of a big guy so it pulled off pretty good I think. We were doing bark and hold work with the dogs and some of them took it very serious! It was a good laugh and a winning experience with the dogs.
My new schutzhund club website is up! It is still in its beginning stages but I will be adding much more to it very soon! The web address is www.oglandshark.com . Enjoy!
We have been training very hard within my club getting dogs advanced and on track for their titles. We made additions to the schutzhund field and added several things that really make the field look official. It's very exciting for all of us!
Our club, OG Landshark Schutzhund, Polizeihund, und Rettungshunde, is finalizing dates for our affiliation trial and also a schutzhund trial approximately one month after. Once we have dates pinned down, we will advertise them.
Our club recently assisted in the 2010 Indianapolis Oktoberfest in Indianapolis, Indiana. Here's a picture of me and club member John Sluss having some fun.
Nancy Malone, here are the pictures of Kuna von den Sportwaffen I promised you. These pipes are in a drainage swale on my property. She would run in one, disappear and come running back out just having a blast. There is one at each end, she would run right in and come out after she explored a little. They lead to open ground so it was safe to let her explore around and have fun.
I am very proud of our new club, O.G. Landshark Schutzhund, Polizeihund, und Rettungshunde. What a fantastic group of people to train with. Here are some photos taken from this weekend, more are coming after being processed.
Stuka daughter, Farah von den Sportwaffen:
We have a great facility to train at. We're working to add all the things we want right away. We have an 18x21 carport being delivered and installed for more shade, a small clubhouse being built, and a parking lot going down. We've already got the new Gappay schutzhund blinds and jump, new square table for table work, grills and firepits for after training get togethers, and a website being built for all the members with tons of great information and options. It's very exciting to see it coming together!
I am strongly encouraging anyone near the Mideast Region to attend the Regional Training Weekend held at Jim Alloway's club in Ohio. We are going to have two fun filled days of training that will include a free helper seminar as well as the opportunity to train with people competing in top sport and the ability to utilize top helpers in the sport. There will be something for everyone wanting to train or learn and we'll have a great time. For more information, please see the Seminars page.
The Seminars page has been updated.
This is Stuka x Jenny daughter Lailla Belle von den Sportwaffen. She will be raised for possible future addition into my breeding program. She has her own training blog at www.lailabelle.com.
Happy Fourth of July and God Bless America!!!!
I have a very welcome addition to my stud male lineup here at my working line kennel. He is a mixture of Belgian and West German working lines with extremely high drives for the work. I will have pictures, pedigree, and video information coming soon. But until then, here's a hint.....a very good friend of mine took second place at the 2007 USA Nationals with him, he was an AWDF competitor the same year and took the Helper's Favorite Dog trophy, and competed in the 2008 Master's Tournament Invitational.
My beautiful black sable Czech import female Ebony Amarcord SVV1, Kkl2 has been bred to the always powerful SG1 Stuka vom Enckhausen SchH3, IPO3, FH, Kkl1, HOT. This will be a tremendous breeding for working dogs and I am extremely excited!
I am very sorry to report that I have lost a very dear friend. My beautiful Sunshadow's Caine has passed and gone to wait for me.
I knew this was coming. Caine was older but looked and acted very young, and I saw him changing before my eyes very rapidly to show his true age. I went to training on Saturday and sadly proclaimed to my training friends that "Caine was dying." I knew it; I could just feel it. Unfortunately I was right because Caine did pass overnight. I think Caine had gotten cancer.
Caine came to me when he was around 4.5 years old. He was an extremely strong dog. I met the man I got him from in a parking lot at 3am on the way to an AWDF competition. I looked at him and really respected him right off the bat because he was pure power in a shiny black coat and a powerful frame. He was beautiful. Caine was not equally impressed with me however and wanted to kill me it seemed. Over the next weeks we had difficulties in getting through that. Caine needed no one and he tolerated very little. He was his own dog and feared nothing. When he walked into a room he owned it. I remember nights walking back into the house after an incident, bloody somewhere, with my wife crying asking me why I cared about that damn dog. I told her I was gonna try to tame him and that someday we were gonna be friends. It was hard for some people to see that then, but I knew I wouldn't give up on Caine and someday it would happen. I had lots of experience with aggressive and powerful dogs and I was using every bit of knowledge and experience I had to deal with Caine, who seemed to teach me even so much more. In time with me working with him it got better and better. I always believed that Caine was a good dog that felt like he never had a true friend; and was strong enough to survive alone, but given the chance wanted someone he could trust and call his friend. So, I worked very hard to show Caine that I was not afraid of him either, but bigger than that, that I didn't want to battle with him. He could trust me. We could be friends. I began to think hard about every single thing I did and constantly set up situations to avoid conflict and promote trust. I tried to create situations where he wanted to be with me and I would be important to him. That he could see good things come from me. I was patient and non-confrontational in all ways, while still projecting that I was not fearful of him. I knew patience was key; that in time he would reach out for me and when he did I needed to recognize it. I remember the day that finally came when this incredibly strong animal looked to me with these simple and softened eyes as if to say "You're really not so bad. I'm starting to really trust you. You're okay." I was so happy. It had been well over a year and this dog was finally starting to want to have a friend.
Over the next months and years we built a stronger and stronger bond. Little things that seemed so easy with most dogs were sometimes hard with Caine, but he was not most dogs. You have to understand the power this dog had in him. He had extremely high hardness and seemingly feared nothing. His aggression was incredibly high. Caine didn't pick a fight, but he wouldn't tolerate a threatening posture toward him, an act of aggression his way, or a soul touching him in anyway. But in time I got to where he trusted me a little more each day. I could groom him and take equipment on and off, we trained together and spent time together. He would come to me and let me pet him all over, he'd wag his tail at my touch. He'd carry his food bowl to me when he was hungry and because he was a good dog, when I saw he was more hungry that day than normal he always got an extra bowl. Caine loved to play ball. We'd play ball several days a week. He'd do a bark and hold on me and then chase the ball. We'd do it over and over and I'd always have to stop before he killed himself because there were words in Caine's vocabulary he didn't use. Words like "quit", or "fail", or "give up." He was a joy to work because for such a strong animal, he could be so flashy in the work. Caine lived to work and in time lived to be with me. He loved to be out with me, take rides with me, go for walks with me. We had become very good friends and he trusted me. I think we shared a bond that only comes with certain dogs....you look into each other and see some of the same qualities, you understand each other and what your experiences in life have been. You gain solace in feeling protected by your friend at times, and other times you feel good to look out for him, too. Together you feel you're a team that can't be stopped, the best of buds walking the earth as jolly green giants. When I would leave his kennel he'd be upset and not want me to go. He wanted to be with me so much.
I remember what it was like when I was a little boy and the feelings my dogs gave me. I felt that way with Caine very much. We had some of the best of times and I was so glad I was there to help him make his journey through life and learn to trust. I watched him grow old before my eyes and I saw the love that grew in him for me and the friends we'd become. It has been a very long time since we had any problems because I tamed him, as much as he tamed me, but not in the way I first thought because you don't really tame dogs like Caine, you earn their trust. To everyone else, he was the infamous Sunshadow's Caine, the intimidating dog that gave me multiple police dogs, protection dogs, sport dogs, and family friends. He was the dog they loved to talk about at training and the one people loved to watch. He was requested for several helper seminars and helper tryouts. He was something to everyone. But to me, he was my Cainey boy. I loved him very much and it hurts that he is gone. I miss the games we played and the times we shared. I miss seeing this powerhouse play with the smallest of puppies. I miss seeing the real intelligence in this dogs eyes. I miss seeing his unstoppable fight drive and determination. I miss the way he'd nuzzle into me. The last night we were together I knew he would go because our bond was so close, only through hard times are bonds like this formed. I laid him down in the air conditioning comfortably, with cold water by his side. I ran my fingers through his silken black hair and told him what a good dog he was and how much fun we'd had. He looked at me for the first time in his life with eyes that said "I feel old, Dad." I kissed that old dog on the head and told him I loved him. He leaned into me, put his paw closer to me, and wagged his tail quietly back and forth. My last words to him were "You're a good boy Cainey boy, and I love ya. I gotta go to work now. You be a good boy and get some rest. I'll see you when I get home bubby."
He was my friend.
And I was his.

We Have A Secret
"We have a secret, you and I
that no one else shall know.
For who but I can see you lie,
each night in fire glow?
And who but I can reach my hand
before we go to bed,
and feel the living warmth of you
and touch your silken head?
And only I walk woodland paths
and see ahead of me,
your agile form racing with the wind
so young again, and free.
And only I can see you swim
in every brook I pass,
and when I call, no one but I
can see the bending grass."

Attention Stuka x Jenny current litter owners:
The puppies are ready to go to their homes now. I have sent each of you emails with needed information. If you are picking your puppy up in person I would like to have this done on the morning of Thursday, June 24, 2010. Puppies being shipped need the information in the email returned to me asap please.
Happy Father's Day!
My Czech import female Ebony Amarcord has come into heat and will be bred to the always powerful Stuka vom Enckhausen. More info to come soon!
I have made the decision to start my own schutzhund club. I have been the helper and training partner for Mike Diehl and OG Indianapolis for a very long time. I am just ready to do my own thing and I have a great group of people to support it's launch. I will take all I did while being the number two man at OG Indianapolis for years and years and put it into this new training group and help to expand schutzhund in our area and our region. I'm going to name the club "O.G. Landshark Schutzhund, Polizeihund, und Rettlungshunde". We will have many schutzhund dogs, as well as police dogs, and even some search and rescue dogs.
Our training grounds has several multi-story buildings we can use for training personal protection dogs, police dogs, and search dogs. We can even use the buildings to just throw some zest and excitement into some schutzhund dogs for bitework. There is water to swim the dogs, plenty of privacy and shade, indoor training areas, and many other benefits. We are getting our clubhose and field plans finalized and then will be up and running. Our first training day is this coming weekend. I will post developments at some point as well as pictures. Stay tuned!
I have uploaded pictures to the puppy pages for both litters and a video of the Caine x Facka litter. Look at this picture! A friends son was introduced to the Stuka x Jenny litter. Nothing in the world makes more sense than a little boy and a puppy.
Sorry for the delay in updates. My club hosted the 2010 AWDF National Championship in Indianapolis over the weekend. As you can imagine, it was a lot of work and extremely time consuming. But, it turned out to be a great event and I think set a bar for a National event. Everyone had a great time.
I have pictures and video of the Caine x Facka litter. I'm updating them now, will take awhile. I had hoped to test them again today, but I ran out of time. They will receive their last test tomorrow before going to their homes. I will be sending emails out to the lucky owners from this "K" litter soon with instructions for shipping, etc.
Happy Memorial Day! May we honor those who served this great Nation.
I performed a helper seminar and Schutzhund protection seminar last weekend in Pennsylvania. It went very well and I made new friends with some great people. I was also lucky enough to work a dog I bred that now lives in that region. That's always nice.
KEVIN HIEBER who trains with Ronnie Weiss, please contact me immediately. Your contact information needs updated please. I have tried unsuccessfully to contact you several times. Thank you!
Had a really enjoyable time with K9 Paco the other day. We went to a local auto auction and spent some time working narcotics on multiple vehicle models with interior and exterior hides with low and high finds and food distractions. He is an excellent dual purpose police dog and I enjoy him very much.
Nothing cuter than German Shepherd Dog puppies a few days old. I love having new life around the kennel. It is so enjoyable for me.
DAVE SEARS OF GREENVILLE INDIANA, please contact me immediately at 317-965-9742 or firstname.lastname@example.org. , my contact info for you needs updated please.
Jenny just delivered her first puppy, a female, at 3:14am! 1lb, 2 oz.
Male at 4:12am, 1lb, 2 oz.
Female at 4:34am, 1lb, 2 oz.
Female at 4:57am, 1lb, 3 oz.
Female at 6:00am, 1lb, 1 oz.
Female at 6:25am, 1lb, 4 oz.
Male at 8:47am, 1lb, 2 oz.
Updates to come as litter develops! This is working out great....Stuka usually throws high male litters (the male determines sex), but more people wanted females than normal in this litter, so old Stook did me right. :)
Jenny says she'll have the puppies when she's good and ready. They're still baking. Not quite ready. :)
Jenny should be having puppies very soon. She is in the whelping room and all set up. We're with her around the clock checking on her, but she really won't need help. She is a terrific mother. We are extremely excited to have this litter and can't wait until they're on the ground.
I have updated the Caine x Facka litter page with pictures taken today of the puppies out on the grass enjoying a beautiful day. They look awesome!
On the Facilities page I also updated photos of the new Sportwaffen K9 whelping room. It is approximately 8 foot by 12 foot, with the inner walls lined with sheet metal. The whelping box is 4 foot by 6 foot with a heat lamp drop from above. The entire room is insulated. There is a door on the outside wall where momma and puppies can exit out into an outdoor kennel for fresh air. The exterior of the room is wood paneled with a locking door which gives the litter lots of privacy and security. Enjoy!
I have also constructed 12 outdoor runs along my pine trees and training field. The runs are on wood deck, approximately 4 foot by 12 foot. They are sheet metal lined and roof covered, with chain link fronts facing into the pines. I will have pictures up soon of these kennels which will house up and coming puppies and young dogs here at my kennel. I will also be building a welpenspielplatz in the next weeks. This will be a private fenced in area with lots of things to intrigue and develop young puppies, encouraging them to explore, and exposing them to many things early on. More to come!
The 2010 Working Dog Championships are concluded in Grove City, Ohio. Jim Alloway's club really set a bar on this event and did a terrific job. We had three club members compete in the event.
The puppies from Caine x Facka are doing extremely well. All are eating great and have extraordinarily nice color. Facka is an exceptional mother and keeps the puppies clean and their bellies full. She keeps them close together and watches over them intensely. She is very protective if someone or something comes near the puppies. These are nice qualities I like to see in a breeding female. The combination of Caine, Bure, and Troll over Hoky, Tyson, and Eron through a female like Facka should produce some bangers. Here they are:
Facka delivered 8 beautiful Caine puppies! Two males, and six females. More to come!
Facka is delivering her Caine puppies! I will post results on number and sex after we are all done.
I have updated the For Sale page with the young Stuka son for sale and the new protection male for sale. There are pictures and videos of both there to view now.
On the Females page I also updated the information on my newest import breeding female, Ebony Amarcord SVV1, Kkl2. She's a super nice female and will be bred to the always powerful SG1 Stuka vom Enckhausen SchH3, IPO3, FH, Kkl1, HOT on her next cycle. I have also created pages for two up and coming stars that will hopefully be added to the breeding program in the future. They can all be viewed from the females page. Enjoy!
I have new video and pictures of the Stuka son for sale and a new protection dog for sale. I'll post them on the For Sale page in the next days. Until then, here's a sneak peek:
The helper seminar and training weekend in Kentucky was a big hit. Everyone had a great time and Dan Williams is Schutzhund USA's newest Teaching Helper! Congratulations, Dan. I have many pictures from the event that I will be posting. Here's a couple from just turned 5 months old Joschy von den Sportwaffen. Joschy is a Stuka son, and is expertly handled by my very good friend Lorna Thomas.
Tomorrow I head to Kentucky to perform a Helper Seminar and Evaluation for the newly formed Kentucky Hundesport Klub in Bowling Green. Saturday I will do helper work for their trial, and Sunday is the affiliation trial for the newly forming Wildcat Schutzhund Club in Georgetown, Kentucky.
I have purchased another exceptional breeding female from Europe. I will try to get her listed to the site this week.
This is a young Stuka vom Enckhausen daughter from a breeding with a showline female. What a beautiful animal. I love the expression.
Jenny has been bred to the always powerful SG1 Stuka vom Enckhausen SchH3, IPO3, FH, Kkl1, HOT. More info to come!
Both Fenga and Jenny have entered their heat cycles. Both females will be bred to the always powerful SG1 Stuka vom Enckhausen SchH3, IPO3, FH, Kkl1, HOT. 2010 is my year to retain some young dogs for the future of my working line breeding program out of my stock.
My newest female import Facka has been added to the females page. She was also bred last night to my alpha male, Sunshadow's Caine. I will be posting litter information on the For Sale page later today.
Reference the 19 month old Stuka son I mentioned I will have available for sale, he can be viewed in this video working beside his father and sister. He is the dog on the far left, Loki:
I will have available in the next days a 19 month old son from SG1 Stuka vom Enckhausen SchH3, IPO3, FH, Kkl1, HOT and SG Cheyenne vom Severusbrunnen SchH3, Kkl1. He has been raised by a woman and is very protective of her. I would consider him mainly a one person dog but good for the family. He will not easily warm to people outside the family. He has excellent drive and full grips and comes fast to the sleeve, and although he could do sport I would say he's best suited for a family personal protection dog. I will gather some more information including pictures and video in the next days. More information to come!
Cheyenne has been bred to Chuck vom Dorneburger bach. We will be getting more ties over the next days and can plan on puppies sometime around 04/06/2010 if all goes well. More information to come!
I am now on my way to the airport to pick up Facka.
Cheyenne was delivered to Chuck vom Dorneburger bach to be bred. I anticipate we will have ties within a few days. I'll be very pleased with the look of these puppies, Cheyenne and Chuck are very typey in appearance and will be a nice match. The drive, gripping, and longbite power from these two should be enormous. More information to come!
We have purchased another excellent breeding female for the kennel. She is a Tyson Schiffslache granddaughter. More information to come soon.
Meet Facka z Vysneho Caju SVV1!
Cheyenne came into heat about 5 days ago. She will be bred to my friend Dan Cox's dog, Chuck vom Dorneburger bach. Cheyenne is a SchH3 Kkl1 female I imported from Germany and has produced two very nice litters with my male Stuka. Chuck is a SchH3 Kkl1 male and was also imported in from Germany. After winning the 2008 Nationals he and Dan competed on the USA Team in Krefeld Germany last year for the 2009 WUSV. Chuck is a Falk v.d. Wolfen son and should cross nicely with Cheyenne. More information to come!
I would like to wish a Happy 6th Birthday today to my friend, Stuka. It sure doesn't seem like 6 years ago that I was able to hold him in my hands and let him sleep upon my chest. I actually get sad when Stuka has a birthday because I know the clock is ticking and one day this truly magnificent animal will move on from me. I love Stuka to death and I am so glad he's in my life. I'm gonna go get him and let him take a ride with me to the store where I'm gonna buy him a big juicy steak for his birthday. I'm gonna sit and watch my little buddy enjoy his meal and be thankful for being so lucky to have him as my friend.
Happy Birthday Stook!
Congratulations to Everett Police Department's newest member to their K9 unit, Exor von den Sportwaffen! Exor is a Caine x Jenny son.
I wish everyone a happy and prosperous year with your dogs!
2009 is wrapping up! Day after Christmas and pretty soon a New Year! We're excited here at Sportwaffen. 2010 holds many new and big plans for us!
I've updated patterns for the Begleithund (BH) heeling patterns and motion exercises here.
